TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee appears before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kolkata for questioning in connection with an alleged primary school recruitment or “school jobs” scam, officials said. Multiple outlets report that the ED questioning is part of a broader probe that also draws on charge sheets filed by the CBI and ED related to teacher recruitment irregularities. The ED session follows Banerjee’s prior interrogation by the West Bengal CID the previous day in a separate case involving alleged forgery of documents, including the signatures of TMC MLAs used for appointing the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly.

According to an ED official quoted by one outlet, the ED has prepared around two dozen questions for Banerjee and plans to videograph the proceedings, verify and cross-check answers with other evidence, and confront him with statements and versions from other accused persons already arrested in the matter. The questioning is also described as focused on tracing alleged proceeds of crime, including how funds were handled and moved across accounts and entities. The ED is reported to examine financial documents, digital records and data recovered during searches, including any inconsistencies between earlier submissions and newly recovered materials.
