The Nigerian Army says troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have arrested a dismissed police inspector accused of supplying arms to bandits and other criminal groups. In statements dated June 15, 2026, the Army reports that the suspect was intercepted during an intelligence-led operation involving Sector 6 and Headquarters Operation ENDURING PEACE.
The Army says the man, identified by one outlet as Inspector Danjuma Yusuf, was arrested on June 14 while travelling in a white Peugeot vehicle from Jos South toward the Makera axis in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. A search of the vehicle allegedly led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, 167 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and additional items including pepper spray, a jack knife, cutlasses, mobile phones, ATM cards, and a National Identification Number (NIN) card. One outlet also reports cash of N73,300 and a police staff tag, along with photographs showing him in police uniform.
The Army says preliminary investigations indicate the suspect had previously been attached to Nigeria Police Force Base 7 in Abuja and was dismissed from the force. He is said to be in military custody while further interrogation seeks to identify other members of an alleged arms-trafficking network, including financiers and supply routes.
