A Home Guard posted with the Mahadevapura Police Station in Bengaluru was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband during a reconciliation attempt, police said. The victim, identified as Manjula, was killed in a dispute that took place within the jurisdiction of the Mahadevapura police limits on Sunday. Police and sources cited by multiple outlets say Manjula had been married to Pradeep for about 15 years and they have two children. Relatives alleged that frequent arguments arose from Pradeep’s suspected online betting addiction and repeated suspicions about Manjula’s fidelity, including questions about the paternity of the children. About six weeks before the incident, Manjula reportedly moved in with her mother with the children.
According to the accounts, Pradeep arrived for a reconciliation meeting carrying a knife concealed in his jacket. He initially pleaded with Manjula to return and allegedly apologized, while also asking her to come back. When she refused, he reportedly attacked her and stabbed her multiple times in front of the children. Police said they recovered a video allegedly recorded by Pradeep in advance in which he referred to his betting habit and threatened that he would kill Manjula if she did not agree to reunite. Pradeep is arrested, and investigators are examining the evidence, police said.
