A Boston Consulting Group (BCG) survey finds that Indian chief marketing officers (CMOs) report stronger expectations for AI-led marketing growth and are more focused on “agentic commerce” than their global counterparts. The report says about 53% of Indian CMOs project 5–9% incremental topline growth, compared with a global average of 43%. It also finds that Indian firms take more ownership of AI investment through the marketing function: 57% of Indian respondents say marketing funds AI, versus 47% globally.
On agentic commerce, 73% of Indian CMOs rank it among their top three strategic priorities, compared with 63% globally. The survey also indicates that CEO attention is high, with 43% of Indian CMOs saying accelerating AI and digital transformation is a CEO top priority. Generative AI expectations are broadly positive; around 52% of Indian CMOs expect it to significantly improve personalisation, and 90% agree that GenAI is reshaping how consumers discover and evaluate brands. While most say AI supports end-to-end transformation, fewer report scaled use of agents and only a small share run campaigns with multiple autonomous agents.
