Actor Sonu Mishra says he backed out of the controversial film “Kala Hiran” after learning the project’s intent. He claims he was initially set to play a character resembling Salman Khan, began shooting, but left after two days when he says filmmakers insisted on a “one-sided narrative” portraying the superstar negatively. Mishra also says he did not sign any agreement and requested the contract and script, adding that he later found out he would have to make negative statements about Salman Khan in the media, which he says conflicted with his ethics.
Meanwhile, “Kala Hiran,” which draws from Salman Khan’s 1998 blackbuck poaching case, is already in the spotlight for its courtroom and promotional materials. The film’s makers have released a first-look teaser, though the release date has not been announced. Salman’s team previously moved the Delhi High Court to block the film’s release, alleging violations of his personality rights and potential impact on legal proceedings. The court has issued notices to the filmmakers, and the next hearing is set for June 19, 2026.
Separately, producer Amit Jani has issued a notice to actor Govind Namdev, demanding a public apology and ₹50 lakh, and has alleged on NDTV that Namdev may have been threatened by Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera.
