Mercedes-Benz India launches the 2026 S-Class S 450e plug-in hybrid, presented as the first plug-in hybrid version of the model in India. The vehicle is introduced at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, with bookings opened across the country after the launch event. Pricing is reported by outlets as starting at about ₹2.20 crore (ex-showroom) and going up to around ₹2.38 crore. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The S 450e is positioned around an electric-first daily commute capability, offering an electric-only range of up to about 115 km. It supports fast charging, with the battery reportedly able to charge from 10% to 80% in about 20 minutes. The combined efficiency is cited as approximately 32.3 kmpl under WLTP testing.

Mercedes-Benz describes substantial updates to the car, including an updated exterior design and a new in-car digital platform (reported as MB.OS and advanced MBUX-related features). The cabin adds screens, AI-enabled assistance, and additional comfort functions. The S 450e also includes upgraded safety features, including a Level 2+ ADAS setup and 27 sensors, along with 15 airbags as standard equipment.
