The Cebu Provincial Board approves additional financial assistance for four Mindanao provinces recovering from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck on June 8 off Sarangani. In a session on Monday, the board unanimously passes four resolutions authorizing Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro to release a total of ₱25 million to affected local government units. The assistance is allocated as ₱10 million for Sarangani and ₱5 million each for Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and South Cotabato. The approvals are issued during the 17th regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, where the resolutions are adopted en masse. With this latest release, Cebu’s authorized cash aid to the quake-affected areas increases to ₱35 million in total. The resolutions are described as being authored by Provincial Board Member Red Duterte and presided over during the session by Provincial Board Member Stanley Caminero. The funding is intended to support recovery efforts in the provinces affected by the earthquake.
