Arise Television news director Sumner Sambo says President Bola Tinubu should question Senate President Godswill Akpabio after Akpabio linked Nigeria’s insecurity to opposition politicians. Sambo made the remarks during an appearance on Arise TV’s “Morning Show” on Monday. He criticized Akpabio’s position that political opponents are fueling insecurity as an approach that “reduces” a major national challenge to party politics, and he argued that it may prevent authorities from identifying the underlying causes of insecurity.
Sambo said insecurity affects Nigerians across political lines and that attributing attacks to the opposition trivializes the crisis. He also argued that opposition politicians do not have the military or police powers needed to terrorize citizens, suggesting that framing insecurity as politically driven undermines efforts to address root causes. According to Sambo, the focus should shift from partisan blame to the real drivers of insecurity rather than public statements that cast the problem as an opposition strategy.
