Anambra Central Senator Victor Umeh says Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi does not influence internal decisions in the party. Speaking on Arise Television’s “Morning Show” on Monday, Umeh addressed speculation and allegations that he and Obi were involved in influencing appointments and positions following the NDC’s recent primary elections.
Umeh dismissed claims that Obi is actively involved in deciding “who becomes what” in the party, saying Obi is not the kind of figure who would be dragged into such processes. He added that NDC affairs are led by established party leadership, pointing to Senator Seriake Dickson as party chairman and describing Dickson’s role as central to party direction.
Umeh also responded to claims related to the conduct of the primaries. He said allegations of extortion were raised by people he described as disgruntled after failing to secure tickets. He further noted that Obi’s move into the NDC, alongside former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, coincides with increased interest from aspirants seeking party nominations.
