Signify has launched “Sports Live,” a new smart-lighting feature for Philips Hue and WiZ that synchronizes lighting effects with live 2026 FIFA World Cup match data. The feature is rolling out for the tournament and is designed to trigger light changes at key in-game moments such as goals, yellow cards, and red cards. Instead of analyzing what is displayed on a TV using HDMI-based sync hardware, Sports Live connects directly to live match information and updates lighting as events occur, with lights adapting during quieter periods to reflect a selected team’s colors, the leading team’s colors, or neutral white when the score is tied.
Setup is performed in the Philips Hue or WiZ mobile apps. In Philips Hue, it is located in the Sync tab, where users choose a room or zone that includes at least one color-capable light, optionally selecting favorite teams. Matches start automatically 15 minutes before kickoff when selected, and users can adjust for broadcast timing delays. The feature coexists with other entertainment modes, while lights paired with a Hue Sync Box take priority over Sports Live. For WiZ, the feature is accessible through Wi-Fi without a hub. A Philips Hue app update (5.69) also adds a new “Bridge zone” grouping option.
