President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissions two judicial facilities in Abuja, reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s judiciary. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the commissioning of the Court of Appeal complex, Tinubu says the rule of law must operate from a “befitting home,” linking judicial effectiveness to modern infrastructure, improved welfare, and institutional reforms. In a separate commissioning, Tinubu also unveils newly completed 10-unit Court of Appeal Judges’ Quarters in Katampe District. Speaking through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, Tinubu describes the housing project as an investment in judicial independence, democratic governance, and access to justice. The remarks emphasize that better welfare and facilities are meant to support efficiency and service delivery while reinforcing the dignity and independence of judges.
The government further notes that additional land has been earmarked for future judicial projects, including facilities for the National Industrial Court, Code of Conduct Bureau, Federal High Court, and FCT High Court. The project’s execution is attributed to the contractor, and the president of the Court of Appeal says secure housing helps protect judicial officers from undue influence.
