Apple is highlighting four “Distinguished Winners” from its Swift Student Challenge ahead of WWDC 2026, which begins next month. The Swift Student Challenge invites eligible student developers worldwide to build interactive “app playgrounds” using Swift Playgrounds or Xcode. Apple says this year’s program recognizes 350 winners across 37 countries and regions. Each winner receives a certificate, AirPods Max 2, and a one-year membership in the Apple Developer Program.
Apple also names 50 Distinguished Winners as having “truly exceptional” submissions, and it invites a subset of those students to visit Apple Park in Cupertino, California during WWDC 2026. Apple’s announcements focus on four of the Distinguished Winners and describe their projects as leveraging Apple platforms and Swift, including AI tools used to develop their app playgrounds.
WWDC 2026 is scheduled to run from Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12, with the keynote at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple is expected to unveil upcoming software platforms, including iOS 27 and macOS 27.
