Multiple reports say Tottenham have joined the summer transfer race for Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali. Italian journalist Matteo Moretto and other outlets report that Spurs “forcefully” enter the competition, with Tottenham’s manager Roberto De Zerbi playing an active role in pushing for a deal. The reports add that Tonali’s camp is open to the idea of joining Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite Newcastle narrowly avoiding relegation last season.

Newcastle are widely described as demanding a fee of around £100 million, with claims that their asking price could rise above that figure. Tonali, 26, joined Newcastle from AC Milan in 2023 and is considered a key central midfielder under Eddie Howe. Newcastle also reportedly set the terms around his remaining contract, which runs until June 2029.

Further speculation continues to place other clubs in the mix, including Arsenal and Manchester United, with Manchester City also mentioned, alongside monitoring by other teams. Tonali’s future has been under scrutiny since a betting ban affected his early appearances after moving to England, and Italy’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup means he is currently on an extended break.
