Rave Inc. has filed antitrust lawsuits against Apple in the United States, Canada, Brazil, the Netherlands and Russia after Apple removed the cross-platform co-viewing app from the App Store in August 2025. Rave says Apple’s reason for the removal—citing unspecified allegations of fraud and vague concerns about content moderation—appears insufficient and that the company targeted Rave because it competes with Apple’s own co-viewing offering, SharePlay. Rave also alleges Apple falsely labeled its Mac application as malware, limiting installation for Mac users.
Apple has not commented on the lawsuit or on the rationale for removing the app. According to reporting and community accounts cited by one outlet, the service previously faced concerns related to unmoderated public chatrooms and explicit or illegal content, including pornography and potential CSAM, and some security products reportedly flagged the app as malware. Rave says it has since introduced new content moderation and age-verification technologies and is seeking to have its iOS and macOS apps reinstated, along with damages tied to the removal. Following Apple’s action, Rave says the service is limited to Windows and Android devices.
