Ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and authorities implement multiple security measures after last month’s exam is cancelled over allegations of question paper leakage. NTA says no individual or platform has access to the question paper before the test and urges candidates to rely only on official NTA updates.

On the technology and misinformation front, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) directs a temporary restriction of Telegram access in India until June 22, and instructs Telegram to disable its message-editing feature in India until June 30. NTA and IIT Madras officials link Telegram misuse to fabricated “leak” evidence created by editing older messages while keeping original timestamps.

Authorities also plan last-minute, tightly controlled transport of sealed question papers using the Indian Air Force, including trial helicopter landings in Tirunelveli, with additional deployment of central armed police forces for custody from airports to banks and then to examination centres. NTA also issues guidance including biometric verification requirements with an exception protocol for candidates facing authentication problems, and reminders to report scams via cybercrime helplines.
