Alibaba Group introduces its first suite of artificial intelligence models for robots, named the Qwen Robot Suite, as the company expands beyond chatbot-focused AI toward “physical” or embodied AI. The rollout is described in a company blog post dated June 15, with additional reporting noting the launch on Tuesday. The suite is built on Alibaba’s Qwen family of foundation models, which the company says provide capabilities for perception and reasoning relevant to physical environments.
According to the accounts, the Qwen Robot Suite is developed by Alibaba’s AI research unit, Tongyi Lab. It is positioned to enable robots to perceive, reason, and interact with the world around them, aligning with a broader industry effort to apply AI to real-world tasks rather than conversational interfaces.
One report also indicates the suite is already in pilot testing with selected Alibaba customers, suggesting early-stage adoption while the models are evaluated for robotic use cases.
