QatarEnergy, the operator of Qatar’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, tells buyers it plans to restart and ramp up production once the Strait of Hormuz reopens, according to multiple reports. The company expects to raise LNG output to close to 50% of capacity about a month after passage through the strait is restored. It then targets operating at roughly 80% of capacity within two months, with the broader goal of restoring most of its LNG export capability on that timeline. Bloomberg also reports that Qatar is preparing to rapidly boost LNG production after the reopening of the strait, citing people familiar with the discussions. The Japan Times similarly states that Qatar aims to bring export capacity back to near full levels within two months. Across the outlets, the timing and staged ramp-up are consistent: an initial increase around one month after operations resume, followed by a larger recovery over the next month to reach about four-fifths of capacity.
