Adani Ports and its special economic zone arm APSEZ expand a partnership with US-based software company Kaleris to deploy AI-led terminal operations across their container port network. According to multiple reports, the planned investment is up to $100 million, carried out in two phases. The expansion builds on Phase 1 deployments already carried out across six ports. Under the multi-year agreement, Kaleris is set to provide its foundational terminal operating system along with AI-augmented solutions for container handling, optimisation, and automation. The rollout covers 15 APSEZ container terminals across nine domestic and international ports. The companies say the integration is intended to improve productivity and operations, including reductions in turnaround times and better resource allocation. Reported expected gains include efficiency improvements for rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) crane productivity (up to 20%) and terminal truck productivity (up to 14%). The statements also place the initiative within a broader technology and decarbonisation investment plan for 2031, and link the port automation effort to wider goals for scaling cargo handling capacity.
