Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says five Iranian vessels cross the Strait of Hormuz after the United States lifts its naval blockade. IRGC reports that three oil tankers and two ships carrying essential goods transit through the waterway, stating the lifting of the blockade becomes operational. The move follows a recent U.S. advisory saying that a blockade of Iranian ports remains in effect until a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iran is signed, scheduled for June 19. The dispute is linked to earlier U.S. action taken in April, when it imposed a naval blockade aimed at stopping ships traveling to and from Iranian ports from transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Separate reporting states that Iran, the United States and Pakistan announced the MoU’s finalisation after weeks of talks, with an official signing planned for Friday in Switzerland. After the MoU announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the anti-Iran naval blockade to be lifted, while U.S. statements indicate some restrictions may continue at Iranian ports pending the MoU’s implementation.
