Gombe State’s APC and PDP trade accusations over the political status of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Ali Isa Pantami. The Gombe APC chapter says Pantami remains an APC member, arguing that no proper due process was followed for any purported resignation or defection. APC Publicity Secretary Moses Kyari says the party’s Ward Executive Committee never received or deliberated on a resignation letter attributed to Pantami, and that most ward executives rejected the resignation claim as fabricated and unauthorized. APC officials also dispute details of the alleged letter, including that it was not circulated among committee members.
The PDP, represented by Gombe, takes a different position, insisting Pantami has resigned from the APC and dismissing the ruling party’s assertions as falsehoods. The dispute follows Pantami’s move in Gombe politics, where he is reported to have emerged as the PDP governorship candidate. Both sides also reject the other’s narrative on the circumstances and approval of his shift, with APC stating that presidential involvement has not been established and urging clarification to reduce misinformation.
