Spotify is introducing “Track Reactions” for collaborative playlists, allowing people to respond to specific songs using emoji. The feature lets collaborators react to tracks with a set of six emojis, which include a heart, thumbs up, and fire, among others. Reactions appear alongside the relevant tracks so other contributors in the playlist can see how their group members feel about each addition. Spotify also provides notifications to the person who added a song when others react to it, delivered through Spotify Messages. Access is limited to collaborative playlists, and the reactions are visible only to the playlist owner and the contributors. Spotify plans to make Track Reactions available to users aged 16 and older on both Free and Premium plans, with a gradual rollout in selected markets. The update aims to add a new interaction method within group listening and curation, rather than changing how tracks themselves play.
