Spotify announces “Track Reactions,” a new feature for collaborative playlists that lets users respond to songs with emoji. Contributors to a shared playlist can react to tracks using six emoji, including a heart, thumbs up, fire, and other options such as laughing and headphone- or eyes-focused emojis, depending on the rollout description. Reactions appear next to the relevant track so other collaborators can see how group members feel about a particular addition. Spotify says the feature is limited to collaborative playlists and is visible only to playlist members, including the playlist owner and contributors.
When someone reacts to a track, the user who added the song receives a notification through Spotify Messages, indicating the reaction from connected collaborators. Spotify also states that reactions are available to users aged 16 and older. The feature is offered on both Free and Premium plans, and Spotify plans a gradual rollout in selected markets.
