Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle says President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office will silence critics and help secure his re-election in 2027. Speaking on Tuesday at a Contact and Sensitisation Retreat in Sokoto organised by the North-West Tinubu/Matawalle Peace and Unity Initiatives, Matawalle argues that opponents of the administration spread “lies and propaganda” meant to undermine Tinubu’s record. He says the administration’s achievements and ongoing reforms will speak for themselves by 2027. Matawalle highlights Tinubu’s efforts to confront insecurity, noting that the government is investing in security and strengthening the capacity of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, which he says has led to progress, particularly in Northern Nigeria. He also points to economic and governance measures, including economic reforms, infrastructure, education and human capital development. Matawalle further criticises political actors he describes as deliberately misleading the public, saying such attempts will fail in the face of the administration’s continued investments and reforms.
