President Bola Tinubu commends Nigerian troops for two security operations. In one, the military rescues Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, the wife of late retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who died while in bandits’ custody. Tinubu, through a statement issued by his special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, says the operation brings relief to her family and Nigerians, and highlights what he calls professionalism, intelligence coordination, and bravery shown by the officers and men involved. In a separate operation in Kogi State, Tinubu also praises the armed forces and other security agencies for killing Ibrahim Bastuji, described as a notorious bandit kingpin. Tinubu portrays Bastuji’s death as a setback for criminal networks operating in Kogi and nearby areas, citing the bandit leader’s involvement in kidnapping and attacks on civilians. The president says the killing is expected to help restore confidence and bring relief to affected communities. He adds that the government will continue supporting security forces with resources, training, and operational backing, and urges the public to share timely, useful information with security agencies.
