Yum! Brands is restructuring its Pizza Hut business by selling regional operations, with Yum China set to take full ownership of Pizza Hut in mainland China for about US$1.2 billion. Under the deal, Yum China—operator of KFC and Pizza Hut in mainland China—pays the consideration entirely in cash, funded through a mix of existing cash reserves and debt financing. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the third quarter.
Other parts of the Pizza Hut system are sold separately. According to reports, Pizza Hut locations outside mainland China are acquired by LongRange Capital, including restaurants in the United States and other markets. This split further separates Yum China’s Pizza Hut operations from Yum! Brands’ remaining global restaurant interests.
Across the coverage, the key terms are the regional division of Pizza Hut assets—mainland China to Yum China and non-mainland operations to LongRange Capital—and the overall restructuring proceeds reported at US$2.7 billion for the broader Pizza Hut sale.
