Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole says President Bola Tinubu never promised to “perform magic” to resolve Nigeria’s insecurity, defending the administration against criticism. Speaking on the Mic On Podcast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain argued that insecurity did not begin under Tinubu’s tenure and challenged critics to publicly confirm whether Tinubu is doing nothing on security. Oshiomhole said Tinubu promised to keep Nigerians safe, but did not promise an instant or miraculous solution.
He also pointed to the risks and sacrifices made by security personnel, particularly in the Northeast, and said their efforts should not be dismissed. The remarks come amid a reported rise in violent incidents, including kidnappings in Oyo State involving students and teachers, and the abduction of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Army spokesman, in Katsina, who later died in captivity. Oshiomhole maintained that Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief, is committed to addressing insecurity, while warning against unrealistic expectations of rapid results.
