Comedian and actor Rob Schneider says he will pay any fines Major League Baseball imposes on players who display Bible verses on their uniforms. Schneider made the pledge on social media after MLB warned three San Francisco Giants pitchers about scripture references they wore during the team’s Pride Night game.
According to multiple outlets, the pitchers—Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker—wrote “Gen 9:12-16” on Pride Night caps. The reference points to Genesis 9:12-16, which describes God establishing a covenant with humans.
After the MLB warnings, Schneider criticized the league as “anti-Christian” and reiterated that he would cover any future penalties for “Christian” players who use Bible verses in that way. The reports focus on Schneider’s response to the MLB notice and the specific scripture reference used by the Giants players, rather than any final ruling or fine amount.
