Central Railway and Western Railway in Mumbai announce they will cancel the usual “mega blocks” and operate more suburban train services on Sunday, June 21, the day of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. The railways say the decision is intended to avoid delays from maintenance work and help candidates reach examination centres across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Western Railway states it will not run its jumbo/mega maintenance block on the suburban network and will run services according to the regular weekday timetable rather than the reduced Sunday schedule. Central Railway similarly says it will not conduct its routine mega block; however, one report notes uncertainty about whether CR services will follow a Sunday timetable or a weekday timetable.
In addition, Western Railway plans to run weekday-level numbers of suburban services, while Central Railway plans higher-than-usual Sunday operations. Separate logistical support includes help desks at major stations and public announcements for candidates and parents. Railways also announce special trains to support travel from outside Maharashtra, including services connecting Gujarat and Mumbai.
