Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi says that, if elected president, he will hold direct discussions with leaders and supporters of agitations across the country. Speaking in an interview on Nevon News hosted by Rufai Oseni, Obi said he would “discuss with everybody” and would not focus on assigning blame over who is right or wrong. He listed examples including Sunday Igboho, described as a Yoruba agitation figure; Ahmad Gumi, described as a controversial Islamic cleric; and Biafra agitators. Obi argued that resolving the underlying issues requires dialogue, adding that he has previously used similar approaches while serving as governor, where he engaged various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, through talks. When asked what he would do if specific figures such as Gumi and others do not agree to listen, Obi said they would “listen” because, in his view, they are affected by the problem. He compared the situation to a sick person being invited to a hospital, saying refusal would be unreasonable.
