Australian teenager Noah Lyles runs a world-best 150 metres time at the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava. Multiple outlets report Lyles clocks 14.67 seconds, setting a new world-leading mark and improving on the previous best of 14.92 set earlier this year by Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson in Florida. In the same race, Australian sprinter Gout Gout finishes third, according to reports, after posting a time under 15 seconds. Brisbane Times, The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald say Lyles finishes in 14.67 seconds while Gout Gout runs 14.96 seconds, which they describe as Lyles’s Australian national record and personal best. The Athletic adds detail that Lyles wins by about one tenth of a second over South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile, with Gout Gout finishing third and also dipping below 15 seconds. The Guardian notes that the 150m is rarely contested and reports that Gout Gout travels home after the finish behind Lyles.
