Senate President Godswill Akpabio says he is confident that Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji will win re-election in Saturday’s governorship poll. Akpabio, who serves as co-chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for the election, made the remarks on Tuesday during the APC governorship campaign grand finale in Ado-Ekiti. The event reportedly drew the Vice President Kashim Shettima, the APC National Chairman and members of the party’s National Working Committee, along with federal lawmakers and APC governors.
Akpabio said he will support and work with the governor until victory is delivered on June 20, 2026. He urged Ekiti residents to maintain peace and avoid violence at the polls, and he called on voters not to stay away from voting. He also highlighted Oyebanji’s performance and humility, including what he described as leadership on gender sensitivity and the selection of a woman as deputy governor.
Oyebanji said he kept campaign promises from the previous election and pledged to do more for a second four-year term if re-elected, pointing to achievements made with support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
