Twelve final-year BDS students of Government Dental College, Hyderabad, are suspended for six months and have been booked by police for alleged ragging of first-year students. According to complaints raised by junior students, the seniors allegedly forcefully assigned tasks and made them carry out errands, including being made to bring alcohol and cigarettes, collect food items, and pick up Swiggy deliveries. They also alleged that the seniors routinely ordered them to perform various other tasks. The college principal states that these complaints were considered by the institution’s authorities. The matter is linked to an incident reported at the Osmania Medical College hostel, where the alleged conduct took place. Based on recommendations from the anti-ragging committee, the college administration suspends the accused students for six months. Police register a case against the students under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act. The reports indicate the case is under investigation.
