The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has removed 43 structures obstructing the widening of Bandu Gore Marg outside Goregaon West railway station, as part of efforts to ease traffic in a busy station precinct. Both reports say the work is carried out by BMC’s P South ward. The road, which connects Goregaon West station to Swami Vivekanand Road (SV Road), is being expanded from about 30 feet to 44 feet. The widening follows demolition and rehabilitation of non-residential structures in the area, with the civic body citing the need to reduce congestion and improve movement for pedestrians and commuters. One report describes the demolition and rehabilitation process as preceding the widening, while the other frames the cleared structures as enabling smoother vehicle flow along the corridor. The BMC expects the project to reduce bottlenecks and make travel between the station and SV Road less time-consuming. The measures are focused on the stretch near the station where footfall and traffic are typically high.
