The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has airlifted sensitive electoral materials for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election and related by-elections scheduled for June 20, 2026. According to reports citing an NAF statement by its Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the airlift operation is carried out at the request of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The exercise takes place between June 15 and 16, moving materials from Abuja to designated airports in Enugu, Rivers and Kano. Coverage across the outlets describes the scope as including the Ekiti governorship election, senatorial by-elections and federal constituency by-elections. Reported senatorial by-elections include Enugu North, Nasarawa North and Rivers South East, while federal constituency by-elections include Dawakin Kudu/Warawa (Kano) and Zuru/Shanga (Kebbi). One source also notes that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commends NAF personnel for the operation. The materials are transported ahead of the elections’ voting date.
