Nashville Predators hire former NHL forward Jamie Langenbrunner as a special assistant to general manager Chris MacFarland, according to reports. The move comes as MacFarland takes on his new role leading the team’s front office. Langenbrunner previously worked with the Boston Bruins organization before this appointment.

During his playing career, Langenbrunner spent 18 seasons in the NHL and recorded 243 goals across stops including Dallas, New Jersey, and St. Louis. He also won the Stanley Cup twice. After retiring, he has held an executive position with the Bruins.

As special assistant, Langenbrunner’s responsibilities include professional scouting and collegiate free-agent scouting and recruiting. Reports also indicate he will handle additional special assignments for the Predators. The hiring is presented as part of Nashville’s efforts to build its scouting and evaluation operations around both pro and college talent as MacFarland oversees the organization.
