Sam Kerr is set to join NWSL club Gotham FC after her contract with Chelsea expires. Multiple reports say Kerr will move on a free transfer, following an announcement in May that she would leave the eight-time Women’s Super League champions. Kerr spends six-and-a-half seasons at Chelsea, during which she won five WSL titles plus FA Cups and League Cups, and she finishes with 116 goals in 158 appearances, the joint-most in the club’s history. The Athletic previously reported in March that Kerr was expected to leave in the summer, citing interest in her next move. Gotham FC also counts several of Kerr’s former Chelsea teammates, including Jess Carter, Ann-Katrin Berger, and Guro Reiten, who all play for the NWSL side. The reports align on the timing of Kerr’s departure from Chelsea and the expectation that she will continue her career in the United States with Gotham FC.
