Multiple outlets report that Apple is developing a second-generation iPhone Air for a spring 2027 launch, citing Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman and unnamed people familiar with the matter. The updated model is described as building on the current Air’s slim design while addressing two key complaints about the first-generation device. Sources say prototypes in advanced testing are codenamed V62 and are expected to add a second rear camera lens for ultrawide-angle photography, alongside the existing wide (main) sensor. The current iPhone Air is reported to have a single rear 48MP main camera, and adding an ultrawide lens would bring the Air’s camera setup closer to the non‑Pro iPhone lineup.

In addition, sources say Apple plans to improve battery life, though it is not yet clear whether this comes from a larger battery or from efficiency gains due to the constraints of the Air’s compact chassis. Several reports also mention the use of an A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process for better efficiency. The reports do not claim changes to the external design beyond accommodating the extra camera lens.
