Hong Kong’s universities perform strongly in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is listed among the top 20 worldwide, ranking 11th, while the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) also places in the top 20 and rises to 18th, up 14 places. This marks the first time that two Hong Kong institutions are both in the global top 20 simultaneously.
The new rankings also place four Hong Kong universities within the world’s top 50, described as a historic high for the city. In addition, five Hong Kong institutions remain among the world’s top 100.
QS also reports that Hong Kong has Asia’s most improved higher education system for a second consecutive year, attributing the improvement to changes reflected in the rankings. The reports collectively present the QS results as part of the 2027 World University Rankings released on Thursday.
