Isaac Fayose alerts EFCC over alleged APC vote-buying plot in Ekiti election

Ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Governor Ayo Fayose, has raised the alarm over an alleged plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to buy votes. In a video posted on his official Facebook page on Thursday, Fayose said he received credible intelligence indicating that the APC had finalized arrangements to induce voters with cash. He urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to remain vigilant and arrest anyone involved in vote-buying on election day. “We have credible information that these people (APC) are planning to buy votes,” he said. “We will see on Saturday whether EFCC is effective or not. If EFCC is on ground, they should be able to apprehend many vote buyers because APC is planning to buy votes.”Fayose added: “EFCC, Nigerians are watching. You now have an office in Ekiti State.”The businessman also expressed broader concerns about Nigeria’s electoral system, lamenting that vote rigging and money politics prevent the best candidates from emerging and hinder national development. “Nigeria is not developing because our electoral system is faulty. Popular people don’t get into power but unpopular people do because they are rigged in,” he stated. “If our votes can’t put the best candidates at the top, it means we are in a mess.”The Ekiti governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.
