The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ondo State commends Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the Dangote Group’s planned Olokola Free Trade Zone in the state. The party says the project, expected to be located in Ilaje Local Government Area, would provide a major economic boost by attracting industrial investment and manufacturers, while also addressing infrastructure challenges for investors. NNPP Ondo Chairman Peter Olagookun makes the case in a statement, attributing Dangote’s renewed interest to what he describes as the governor’s “good governance” and development work. Olagookun points to employment and community health programmes, infrastructure development, and recruitment initiatives for agencies including SUBEB and TESCOM, as well as road and flyover projects in Akure. He specifically says a second flyover bridge in Akure has started after completion of the first. The Dangote Group’s President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, reiterates the company’s commitment during a courtesy visit to the governor, describing the proposed zone as a potential investment hub that could transform Ondo State. Olagookun also dismisses claims that the NNPP has become inactive in the state, saying it will participate actively in the 2027 elections.

2 months agoThe New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ondo State has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for attracting the Dangote Group’s planned Olokola Free Trade Zone, describing the project as a major economic boost that will serve as a lasting legacy for the state. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, reaffirmed the company’s commitment during a courtesy visit to the governor on Monday. He described the proposed large-scale industrial and free trade zone in Ilaje Local Government Area as a powerful investment hub that would transform Ondo State by attracting manufacturers and easing infrastructure challenges for investors. In a statement on Wednesday, Ondo State NNPP Chairman, Peter Olagookun, said the initiative, when realised, would significantly enhance the state’s economy. He attributed Dangote’s renewed interest to the governor’s good governance and developmental strides. “Many people have been wondering why oppositions have been silent in Ondo State. We opposition parties are not silent because we didn’t exist or someone silenced us. We opposition parties are silent because for some one and a half years now, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has shocked us with his unprecedented achievements in the state,” Olagookun said. The NNPP chairman highlighted several achievements of the Aiyedatiwa administration, including employment initiatives, infrastructure development, recruitment into SUBEB, TESCOM, and community health programmes, as well as road and flyover projects in Akure. He specifically noted that the second flyover bridge in Akure has commenced following the completion of the first one. Olagookun quoted Dangote as saying he brought the project back to the state because of the governor’s good leadership. Olagookun also dismissed claims that the NNPP had become inactive in Ondo State following the exit of its former national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He insisted that the party remains fully on ground and will actively participate in the 2027 general elections with candidates across various positions.
