India’s Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign takes a hit after off-spinner Shreyanka Patil is ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury. Multiple reports say Patil sustained the injury during India’s Group A match against the Netherlands, twisting her ankle while fielding early in the Netherlands innings, after which she is stretchered off.

Following her injury, the ICC Event Technical Committee approves Prema Rawat as Patil’s replacement for the India squad. Sources note that Rawat is uncapped for India and is primarily a leg-break bowler. Reports add that Rawat has impressed in recent domestic and developmental cricket, including performances connected to the Women’s Premier League and the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars. NDTV and other outlets also highlight her experience with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the WPL over the last two seasons.

Meanwhile, India are described as having remained unbeaten in the group stage so far, having beaten Pakistan and the Netherlands, with a match against South Africa next.
