Bharat Forge’s defense business arm, Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), has signed a partnership with US-based military vehicle manufacturer AM General to develop and promote next-generation mobile artillery systems. The agreement was announced in connection with Eurosatory in Paris, with both companies stating they aim to offer mounted artillery gun platforms designed for quick deployment and performance across different weather and terrain conditions.

The companies plan to jointly target the global market for mobile artillery, focusing in particular on 155mm systems. AM General has also submitted a proposal to participate in the US Army’s Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC) programme, which would use a 155mm artillery solution based on KSSL’s Mounted Artillery Gun (MArG) platform. If selected, deliveries are expected to begin in 2027.

The reporting describes the MArG system as using a 52-calibre 155mm cannon and a soft recoil technology intended to reduce recoil forces compared with conventional artillery, while enabling a lighter vehicle design. Both sources frame the collaboration as creating export opportunities and strengthening KSSL’s position in international defence programmes.
