India’s securities transaction tax (STT) collection is up 45% in FY27 so far, according to figures reported as of June 17. The rise in STT is linked to stronger market activity during the period. In the same update, direct tax receipts also grow: advance tax collection increases 14.6% year-on-year. Advance tax is reported at Rs 1.79 lakh crore as of June 17 in FY27, compared with Rs 1.55 lakh crore in FY26. The sources state that advance tax collection is up 15.3% year-on-year to the same Rs 1.79 lakh crore figure. Together, the reports indicate that both collections are performing ahead of the previous fiscal year, with STT benefiting from market-linked trading volumes and direct taxes reflecting higher advance payments. The data focuses on the early part of FY27 and uses year-on-year comparisons against the corresponding stage in FY26.
