Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun commissions the Pharma-Grade Warehouse of the Ogun State Drugs and Health Commodities Management Agency in Abeokuta. At the event, he says more than 30,000 residents living with HIV in the state currently receive free services, including antiretroviral therapy, counselling, and support, through health facilities across Ogun. Abiodun urges residents to seek diagnosis and treatment at hospitals and describes the administration’s wider efforts to expand HIV testing, strengthen prevention programmes, and reduce new infections. He also highlights steps aimed at preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and addressing tuberculosis through community outreach, contact tracing, and expanded diagnostic services.
The governor presents the warehouse as a strategic investment to improve the storage and distribution of medicines and test kits across Ogun’s 20 local government areas, with the goal of ensuring timely access and reducing shortages. Ogun’s health commissioner, Dr. Tomi Coker, says the state plans to use systems to monitor stock levels in medical facilities. Global Fund Executive Director Peter Sands says the facility is among the largest and best equipped of similar warehouses built nationwide and pledges continued support for health system strengthening.
