Instagram is rolling out a feature that lets users write captions for each slide within a carousel post. Previously, carousel posts supported only one caption that appeared at the bottom of the screen for the entire set, so creators who wanted slide-specific context had to edit text directly onto images or describe each slide in the single caption. With the update, users can choose to add multiple captions during the carousel creation process. In the final step before posting, Instagram presents an option to write either one caption or multiple captions. If multiple captions are selected, swiping through the carousel displays the corresponding caption under each slide. The carousel format typically allows up to 20 photos or videos in one post, and the new option enables more granular presentation, which can be useful for product showcases or detailed recommendations. Meta Platforms, Instagram’s parent company, says the feature also improves accessibility by providing a consistent narrative flow for people using assistive technologies. Instagram began testing the capability on select accounts in recent weeks and is now expanding it to all users.
