Penske Media Corporation (PMC) acquires the remaining Vox Media brand portfolio, bringing publications and media businesses under a newly created PMC subsidiary, PMX. Multiple outlets report that PMX will house and operate the combined publishing assets, consolidating well-known Vox properties alongside PMC’s existing entertainment, music, and media brands. The acquired portfolio includes news and lifestyle outlets such as The Verge, Eater, SB Nation, PopSugar, The Dodo, Punch, and Thrillist, as well as Vox Media’s studio and creative arms, Vox Studios and Vox Creative. Other Vox businesses reported as part of the deal include Concert, Vox’s ad marketplace, and Forte, its first-party data platform.
Several reports also describe leadership for the new division: former Vox Media president Ryan Pauley joins PMC and becomes President of PMX Global. The combined group is described by outlets as a major scale digital publisher, with one source stating it becomes the world’s largest digital publisher. The transactions are presented as an expansion and consolidation of PMC’s digital publishing footprint and operating structure under PMX.
