A 55-year-old man is killed in Chunabhatti after a section of plaster from the terrace parapet wall of a 17-storey residential building collapses and falls onto him. The incident occurs around 12.30 am on Friday at Galaxy Apartment in the Qureshi Nagar area. Civic officials say that a portion of plaster detached from the building’s terrace parapet and struck Abdul Wahab while he is walking below. Witness accounts and officials’ statements in the reports indicate that emergency response is delayed by the time taken for responders to reach the scene.

Wahab is rushed to Sion Hospital, a civic-run facility, in a private vehicle before emergency services arrive. Doctors declare him brought dead on arrival. After the incident, Mumbai Fire Brigade personnel remove the remaining loose and dangerously hanging portion of the parapet wall to prevent further risk and the area around the building is cordoned off as a precaution.

One report also notes that the building belongs to the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA). Police action is initiated, with an FIR being registered in connection with the incident.
