Nigerian actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham says her substantial income from acting began about eight years ago, despite being in the industry for decades. In a recent video, Abraham, who is described as being about 43 years old, says she has worked in Nollywood since around 2001—roughly 25 years—but that early earnings were minimal. She characterizes the early period as working for survival, saying she made what she described as “peanuts,” and that she only started making meaningful income around eight years ago.

The accounts note that this is not her first public discussion of her financial experience. One outlet references that she previously made a similar revelation in 2020. Since those earlier comments, Abraham has become one of Nollywood’s more prominent filmmakers. Recent reporting also links her career success to the performance of her 2025 film “Oversabi Aunty,” which is reported to have grossed more than N1 billion at the box office and achieved a number of industry milestones.
