Malawi’s Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) announces reductions in retail fuel prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene/paraffin, effective from midnight on 19 June 2026. The regulator says the downward revisions apply to pump prices paid by motorists and fuel users across the country. According to MERA’s public communication, the MERA Board Chairperson Lucas Kondowe states that the regulator approves the changes and issues the revised prices to ease the cost of living. Malawi Voice describes the price cuts as being implemented “quietly,” noting that many people learn of the change after it takes effect, and characterizing the move as intended to provide relief to households and businesses affected by high fuel costs. Both outlets report that petrol, diesel and kerosene/paraffin are included among the fuels whose retail prices are lowered. The announcements indicate the changes are made by the regulator through revised retail pricing that comes into effect at the start of 19 June 2026.
