Works Minister Dave Umahi says he is confident President Bola Tinubu will continue leading Nigeria until 2031, attributing the expectation to divine guidance. Umahi made the remarks on Thursday during an inspection tour of bridge projects in Lagos State, where he also discussed plans for the Carter Bridge. Multiple outlets report that Umahi said the same God who brought Tinubu into leadership would help address Nigeria’s challenges, including insecurity. He urged Nigerians to support and cooperate with the administration’s efforts to tackle security concerns across the country.
Umahi also acknowledged that no leader wants instability during their tenure, but said crises must be confronted when they occur. He expressed the view that, whether security problems are politically motivated or not, the Tinubu administration would receive the wisdom and strength needed to overcome them and handle other national issues. In addition, he stated that the current administration would complete projects it has started, emphasizing that the government intends to carry ongoing work through to completion under its watch.
On Carter Bridge, the minister said reconstruction is expected to take about three years and is part of the administration’s five-year plan.
