The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) rejects a purported suspension of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, carried out by Chika Edoziem, a former head of the movement’s dissolved Directorate of State (DOS) third administration. IPOB says the suspension and any related expulsion are unconstitutional, null and void, and hold no legal or organisational effect. The dispute follows Kanu’s announcement dissolving Edoziem’s 3rd DOS administration and appointing a new 4th administration led by Chris Nwaogu.

IPOB argues that only Kanu, acting under the IPOB Code of Conduct, has the authority to appoint, suspend or dismiss principal officers unless that power is expressly delegated. The group says Edoziem’s faction lost authority because its tenure had already ended when the 3rd administration was dissolved, and therefore cannot derive power from an office that no longer exists. IPOB also instructs members to disregard directives or communications issued by Edoziem’s dissolved team after the dissolution and says the Nwaogu-led 4th administration is operational and accountable to Kanu.
